Updating your bathroom is something that you may have been thinking about for a while now but have not been able to do it just yet. Although renovating a bathroom can be expensive, it does not mean that you need to compromise on the functions and design you have wanted in your bathroom. On the contrary, you can still remodel your bathroom on a small budget and avoid costly bills along with a remodel. If you are struggling to try to figure out how to do so, then we have created some tips to get you started in your remodeling project.

 Recessed Shelves

When you have a cramped room and you are not able to extend it further due to a small budget then there is no need to call it quits on your project. Instead of giving up on your project, you can actually add recessed shelves to your bathroom which would not make you spend more than your budget allows you to and it does not compromise on the functionality you desire in your bathroom either. Recessed shelves can be installed just about anywhere in your home and the bathroom is one of the ideal places to put them because of the limited space in the room. These types of shelves are helpful when it comes to storage because they do not protrude, and it makes the room look and feels bigger than it had previously with regular shelves.

Custom Cabinets

Although you may think that custom cabinets are not worth the cost if you are interested in adding more space and better functionality in your tiny bathroom then custom cabinets can help. Custom cabinets can easily use up the right amount of space to ensure that your bathroom’s entire space is being utilized in the correct way. For example, store-bought cabinets can leave a gap between the wall and the cabinets while custom cabinets could be extended to reach both walls. Another great use for custom cabinets is that you can make the width of the cabinets smaller than the typical store-bought ones so you can save some walking space while keeping the huge storage.

Vanity

If you are wanting to update everything in your bathroom, but you do not have a big budget to use for everything then you don’t have to limit yourself on what you want in your remodel. Instead of replacing everything in your bathroom, you can freshen some of the pieces up, so you don’t have to worry about overspending on the wrong features. For example, you might have a beautiful vanity in your bathroom, but it is obvious that it has seen better days. Instead of throwing it out or giving it away, you can choose to repurpose it by adding a fresh coat of paint on it and cleaning it up to give it back its shine.

Ventilation

One area where you might not need replacing is your ventilation. However, your ventilation fan is what keeps you healthy because it prevents the growth of mold and mildew. Your bathroom is in a wet environment and that is the type of environment that mold and mildew thrive in which is why this feature is a crucial one that should be focused on during a remodel. By updating your ventilation, you will not only be keeping everyone that encounters it healthy, but it will be saving your walls and everything else in the bathroom from water damage. You can also choose to update it with a quieter and less obtrusive fan, and it will work as well or even better than your old fan.

Paint

Using the right paint for your bathroom is something that you will need to be aware of when you begin your remodel. Painting any room is a time-consuming investment and it is something that you do not typically have to do every couple of months unless the wrong type of paint is chosen. For the bathroom, you will need to choose a semi-gloss finish that does not begin to peel or wear down because of the condensation in the room.

Finishes

Sometimes you want to add unique pieces to your home which is fine if it fits into your budget. However, if it does not then you will have to think about whether these faucets or fixtures will last for a very long time without having to be replaced frequently. If you believe that you can handle the costs if there is a break in the future, then go ahead and buy these pieces. However, we recommend that you keep in mind that unique shapes, colors, and trim can make it very difficult to replace and can become costly if it is more than one thing you are replacing. Instead of purchasing pieces that are out of the box, stick to the standard products that achieve the same thing and fit your current and future budget.

Refinish the Tub

If your tub has been around for a very long time and it is showing it then it might be time to update it in your remodel. If you want to stay within your budget or you are worried that upgrading this aspect of your remodel will use up everything in your budget then you can choose to refinish your bathtub instead by re-glazing it which can easily be fixed by a professional.
